About Us

In 2015, a group of local cyclists organized a bicycle event now called Bluewater International Granfondo with all proceeds to go to Palliative Care education resulting in the creation of the Bluewater Palliative Care Retreat (BPCR) – a 2 day conference held at a beautiful lakeside resort offering to all involved with hospice and palliative care a time of learning, reflection and connection. Education gives knowledge and confidence which translates into better care of our patients.

Bluewater Palliative Care Retreat’s mission is to inspire, intrigue and educate palliative care providers in Sarnia and Lambton County. Our nonprofit organizes a biennial retreat for healthcare providers, allied health professionals, spiritual care workers, and volunteers who are involved in the care of those living with life limiting illnesses and their families and loved ones. We strive to create an event that cultivates discourse and critical thinking about how we can be best equipped to provide compassionate, wholesome care to the populations we serve in our professional and volunteer settings. Through our retreat, we aim to enhance the quality of palliative care by providing professionals and volunteers opportunities to learn from experts across the various domains in palliative care.
